KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.

KNOWLEDGE OF POLICIES AND PROCEDURES PERTAINING TO INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE, INTEGRATION, AND TESTING OF ELECTRIC GLOBAL POSITIONING MONITORING SYSTEMS IN A LAW ENFORCEMENT ENVIRONMENT.

Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of an electronic monitor program and techniques and processes associated with electronic monitoring.

Ability to generate and maintain statistical data and analyze trends.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


To determine your eligibility for a primary law enforcement position, indicate whether you meet the following age requirement: I am under age 37; OR, after subtracting the months of Federal Services worked in a primary law enforcement/firefighter position, I am less than age 37; OR I am a veterans' preference eligible, I am older than age 37 and am requesting a wavier to the maximum age requirement.


MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Grade 05:


Qualifying experience for the GS-5 level includes one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.


SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirements for the GS-5 level may be met by completion of a bachelor's degree or four years of undergraduate education with courses directly related to the work of the position. Transcripts MUST be attached to application.


COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and specialized experience may be used to meet the total experience requirements.

    MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE: Because this position is covered under Law Enforcement Officer Retirement provisions, first-time law enforcement appointees must not have reached their 37th birthday at the time of appointment. Applicants 37 or older who have previous law enforcement officer experience under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) or the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) may have their previous law enforcement officer experience subtracted from their age to determine whether they meet the maximum entry age requirement.

Duties:

  • Assists in the installation and removal of electronic monitoring equipment used to monitor offenders. Maintains inventory of electronic equipment and devices. Performs general maintenance on the equipment.

    Monitors, prepares, and/or tracks program specific information. Independently compiles and prepares required reports and summaries, as well as maintain and update ongoing and special reports. Uses computer hardware and software for data management, word processing, and communication.

    Organizes and maintains filing systems for administrative, resource and training information. Maintains current files on program activities.
